Hull City’s way to stop opposing players
Maybe they won’t win the English Premier League title this Season, but Hull City AFC will probably win the title as the funniest team in the competition; we’ve already written about Tom Huddlestone’s haircut celebration (https://thefootballwelike.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/premier-league-giocatore-capellone-segna-ed-esulta-tagliandosi-i-capelli/), but now they found a original way to stop opposing players.
Last Saturday, during Hull City – Manchester City FC, a Premier League match, a free kick was awarder to the Manchester side, and James Chester (Hull City), decided to try to stop Javi Garcia (Manchester City) tickling him just under his armpits.
As you can see on the video below, first the Spaniard looked a bit annoyed, then smiled to his opponent, and made us smile as well !
Finally the game ended 0-2 to Manchester City FC, but James Chester’s strategy has been effective, because Javier Garcìa didn’t score !

Marcatura a uomo con solletico
Dobbiamo riconoscere che i giocatori dell’Hull City sono particolarmente eccentrici: dopo l’esultanza alternativa con taglio di capelli annesso (si veda https://thefootballwelike.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/premier-league-giocatore-capellone-segna-ed-esulta-tagliandosi-i-capelli/ ) adesso si sono inventati anche un nuovo modo di marcare.
Sabato scorso si stava giocando Hull City contro Manchester City, incontro di Premier League, quando James Chester (Hull City), su calcio piazzato a favore dei citizens, decide di marcare Javi Garcia (Man City) facendogli il solletico poco sotto le ascelle.
Come potrete vedere dal video sotto, dapprima Garcia sembra indispettito, poi sorride all’avversario.
Sinceramente questa scenetta ha fatto sorridere anche noi.

P.S. per la cronaca la partita è finita 0 a 2 per i citizens, ma almeno Javi Garcia non ha fatto gol !
The Genius of the Day – Il Genio del Giorno: Manuel Pellegrini & Manchester City FC

Today in the “Genius of the Day” topic we speak about a fact that happened two weeks ago during the game of the last matchday of Champions League Group Stage between FC Bayern München and Manchester City FC, that was played in Germany and was won by the English team 2-3, anyway both of the teams had already qualified before the match.
Defeating FC Bayern, probably the current best team in the world, in Munich is such a big achievement, but this match will probably be remembered for another event: when MCFC was up at 63′, they would have needed just one more goal to win 2-4 and to overtake the Germans, win the Group, and be seeded at the following CL Round of 16 draw, where they could have get a relatively easy opponent, Mr. Pellegrini chose to replace two of his best offensive players, David Silva and Edin Dzeko, and to leave his best top scorer, Sergio “El Kun” Aguero, on the bench, because the Chilean manager thought that Manchester City FC would have needed to win by 3 goals, and considered that scoring two more goals in half an hour would have been quite unlikely, and so decided to defend the result and to make Aguero rest.
In the post-match press conference Mr. Pellegrini said that he would have put the Argentinian striker into the match if he had known that they would have needed just one goal to win the Group, while James Milner, who scored the winning goal, said that the players didn’t know that a 2-4 win would have been enough to qualify as first. It’s true that UEFA tie-breakers are often complicated and change in every competition, but it’s unbelievable that neither an overpaid Manager, nor overpaid players nor, most of all, overpaid executives knew which result MCFC would have needed to win the Group, or that nobody told that to the Manager and/or to the players.
Manchester City FC was heavily punished for this little big mistake, beacause they got FC Barcellona in the Rounf of 16 draw.
La rubrica “Genio del Giorno” oggi si riferisce ad un fatto di un paio di settimane fa, accaduto precisamente durante l’ultimo incontro della Fase a Gironi dell’attuale edizione della Champions League fra FC Bayern Monaco e Manchester City FC, tenutosi nel capoluogo bavarese e vinto 2-3 dalla compagine inglese.
Vincere in casa della squadra più forte del mondo non è cosa da tutti i giorni, pertanto giù il cappello per Mr. Pellegrini ed i suoi ragazzi, tuttavia questo incontro non è diventato famoso tanto per l’ottima rimonta della squadra inglese, quando per un errore di calcolo del suo allenatore e/o della sua dirigenza, e che potrebbe aver compromesso il futuro cammino dei “Citizens” nella massima competizione continentale per club.
Infatti, quando mancava poco meno di mezz’ora al termine dell’incontro (le due squadre erano già entrambe qualificate, ndr), e gli Inglesi erano in vantaggio per 2-3, Mr. Pellegrini ha pensato bene, oltre a sostituire David Silva ed Edin Dzeko, due dei suoi migliori giocatori offensivi, di lasciare a riposo in panchina il suo miglior giocatore, Sergio “El Kun” Aguero, pensando di dover segnare ancora due volte, senza mai concedere, per vincere con 3 goal di scarto e passare il turno come prima ed essere testa di serie nel sorteggio degli Ottavi di Finale di CL, e che ciò sarebbe stato praticamente impossibile. Invece l’allenatore cileno aveva sbagliato i conti, perché sarebbe bastato vincere con due goal di scarto, quindi segnare un solo altro goal, per guadagnare la testa del Gruppo ed avere un sorteggio più “morbido”, e pertanto sarebbe sicuramente valsa la pena schierare una formazione più offensiva per cercare di segnare, anche rischiando di subire il pareggio in contropiede.
Nelle risposte alle domande dei giornalisti nel post-partita, sia Mr. Pellegrini che alcuni giocatori hanno ribadito che pensavano che sarebbero serviti ben tre goal di scarto per vincere il Girone: “Era difficile segnare altri due gol. Sarei stato tentato di mandare dentro Aguero se avessimo segnato un quarto gol, per questo gli ho anche detto di andare a riscaldarsi” ha dichiarato il tecnico, mentre James Milner, autore del goal della vittoria, ha detto: “Non sapevamo se il 4-2 sarebbe stato sufficiente. Onestamente, pensavamo che fosse necessario un 5-2“.
Fermo restando che i regolamenti UEFA sono spesso complicati, e che per ogni competizione valgono spesso criteri diversi, la cosa incredibile di questa vicenda è che all’interno della società Manchester City FC, nessuno fra giocatori, allenatore, collaboratori e dirigenti strapagati, fosse a conoscenza del criterio che avrebbe deciso la squadra migliore in caso di parità di punti, e, nel caso che qualcuno lo avesse saputo, che nessuno lo abbia spiegato all’allenatore ed alla squadra.
Per la cronaca, il Manchester City dovrà affrontare il Barcellona negli Ottavi, pertanto il piccolo grande errore di calcolo e/o comunicazione del club inglese è stato severamente punito.
Kolo Touré Dance
The Ivorian International defender Kolo Touré, currently playing for Liverpool FC, “created” a dance, that is a kind of mix between a flashmob and an harlem shake.
The song is a chant that Manchester City FC fans dedicatated both to Kolo and to his brother Yaya, when they were playing together for the “Citizens“.

Il difensore ivoriano del Liverpool FC, Kolo Touré, ha “ideato” una danza, una sorta di miscuglio fra un flashmob ed un harlem shake.
Il motivetto deriva da un canto che era stato dedicato a lui, ed al fratello Yaya, dai tifosi del Manchester City FC, squadra in cui i due fratelli hanno militato insieme in precedenza, e dove Yaya gioca tutt’ora.
